Twitter went into meltdown after a cruise ship candidate failed to point out where Australia was on a map during her interview.
Channel 4 series The Job Interview has provided us with plenty of epic fails, and episode five of the series was no different.
Applying for the role as a sales consultant with Cruise Nation, you’d expect the candidates to have a reasonable knowledge of geography.
Or not…

Cruise Nation founder and owner Phil Evans started the interview with his Swansea-based company by scrutinising candidates Katie, Helen and Steve one-by-one.
Task 1: Research
While former admin assistant Helen and award-winning car insurance salesman Steve almost drifted into bragging territory with their historical knowledge of the Cruise Nation company, the same couldn’t be said for Katie.
The youngest of the three candidates replied: “I’m going to be honest, not a lot” when asked about her knowledge of the company.
Twitter could only laugh out loud at her following piece to camera.

Zero knowledge or research, but at least Katie looked good.
Task 2: General Knowledge
The following task called upon the candidates GCSE geography skills, as Phil asked each of them to pin a cruise ship to a select few destinations.
Barcelona, for instance.
A piece of cake for big Steve.

Then came Helen.

Ah, so that’s almost in the middle of Africa. Not sure how many cruises ships can actually get to one of the most centralised points of Africa.
Things got worse for Katie as Buenos Aires, home of the Argentina Tango, cropped up.
Again, apparently in Africa. And even more central.

The final straw came when Katie attempted to go Down Under.
Go on Katie, think really far to the right.
It’s a flat map, so there isn’t even the confusion of a spinning globe.

Ah. You’ve slotted Australia into South America, next to Chile and Brazil.

Katie bowed out at this stage although Twitter loved her enthusiasm, especially following her hilarious piece to camera that ended her time on the episode.
This one of many things that went wrong for Katie.
One of many…
