Ninja Warrior UK 2019 is here - Can you apply for the next series? Are there athletic requirements?

Ninja Warrior returned to the UK on Saturday, April 13th.

The high-flying, acrobat and near-impossible gameshow first launched in Japan as Sasuke in 1997 before it was adapted to the show we all know and love in the noughties.

ITV have been airing the game show since 2015 with hundreds of contestants rattling through the race course. Here’s how you can step up to the spinning plate and swinging rope yourself!

How does Ninja Warrior work?

The competition sees contestants take on a complicated and physically gruelling race course.

Strength, speed, balance and agility are all vital as the Ninja Warrior UK course features a variety of running, jumping, dangling and climbing sections.

It is very similar to parkour and requires contestants to think like a ninja with their athletic stunts.

How easy is it to complete the course?

Err, virtually impossible.

Having first launched in the UK four years ago, no-one has ever completed the full course.

Tim Shieff, who won the comp in 2015 and 2018, came the closest. He got to the final stage of the course last year.

Other than this, contestants proceed through the competition by completing small stages of the course within a set time.

How to apply for Ninja Warrior UK

Of course, applications for the 2019 series are now closed.

However, you can keep an eye on the application process for next year by keeping track of the ITV application page and the official Ninja Warrior Twitter account.
