Roxanne Pallett quit Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls during the very first episode.
The 2018 Celebrity Big Brother housemate has had her mental health called into question of late, after the bizarre incident where she accused Ryan Thomas of deliberately punching her with the intent to harm.
Roxy has since apologized for the incident.
Now, the 35-year-old actress has made the headlines again, appearing to have a mental breakdown when reminded of a house fire.
Roxanne Pallet Camp Fire Meltdown
Midway through episode one of Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls, Roxanne started to have a panic attack.
It was 2.30 am when all of the other Islanders were sleeping. A startled and frightened Roxy started to cry as the rest of the group attempted to calm her down.
With thunder rumbling and smoke rising from the campfire, it looked as if the former Emmerdale actress was just very scared of the unnatural surroundings.
However, Roxanne mentioned a “house fire” and explaining that it was the campfire that was causing her to feel insecure.
Roxanne said: The smoke. The smell. It’s all taking me back to that time. It feels like it is happening again.”
The next day, Roxanne decided to leave the island as she relayed the story about being trapped in her house when she was 16 years old.
Roxanne Pallet House Fire Memories
In a 2017 interview with the Daily Star, Roxanne opened up about the house fire incident.
Not only was Roxanne dragged to safety from the blaze but her mum was left in the house. She was saved in the nick of time and needed extensive treatment in hospital.
Roxanne said: I was lying in the ambulance preparing myself for losing her. I could hear the paramedics saying, ‘the third party hasn’t been found yet’ – and that was my mum.
Hearing that sentence actually damaged me more than the fire did. You imagine in that position you would panic and scream. But I was numb. It was like I had a ton of bricks on my chest.
I just lay there in silence with tears running down my cheeks. I got a taste of what it would feel like to lose a parent. Something like that changes your outlook on everything.”
Celebrity Island Co-stars Have Their Say
Some of Roxanne’s fellow Celebrity Island co-stars have since spoken out about the fire incident.
Olympian Anthony Ogogo has admitted that Roxy needs professional help.
Anthony exclusively told Metro.co.uk: In light of the Big Brother thing, I think she’s got some deep emotional scars that’s overflowing into other aspects of her life as well. But you know, she’s a grown woman, she’s got to do what she’s got to do. Hopefully, she’ll get the help she needs.”
