BBC One’s smash hit drama The A Word is returning for a third season, with filming currently underway in both the Lake District and Manchester.

The brand new series is set to pick up two years on from the previous season, meaning there are a few new faces to get to know.

Julie Hesmondhalgh

Joining the cast of the A Word for season 3 of the BBC drama is ex-Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh.

The 49-year-old actress is most recognisable for her role as Haley Cropper in Corrie, however, since leaving the soap she has gone on to star in award-winning dramas such as ITV’s Broadchurch.

Sarah Gordy

Joining the cast of The A Word for the show’s third season is Call The Midwife star Sarah Gordy.

The 42-year-old actress has also featured in Holby City, Doctors and BBC‘s Upstairs Downstairs.

David Gyasi

Also joining season 3 of  The A Word is 39-year-old British actor David Gyasi.

David has some pretty impressive roles on his resume including sci-fi film Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey and adventure movie Cloud Atlas, starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry.

When will The A Word season 3 be on TV?

So far there is no official news as to when series 3 of The A Word will be shown on BBC One.

The show is currently in the filming process, meaning it is likely to be a 2020 release date.
