Holiday decided to give it his all during the semi-finals. He decided to perform ‘Fix you’ as he thought it would be a song that could take him to the finals. When Legend heard the song before the performance, he felt emotional and broke down crying.

On the show, Legend recalled how emotional had the song made him feel. He admitted, the entire family had been through a lot this year, and the song brought back the emotions they had been feeling for a long time. Legend further added that he hoped the song could come out as a ray of hope for everyone who was going through something in their life.

What happened to John Legend’s family?
Like Legend mentioned on the show, this year has been a tough one for his family. In October, Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen revealed they had a miscarriage. Chrissy opened up about it on her social media as she shared the picture of her and Legend from the hospital.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough,” she wrote at that time.
The pair revealed they had named their unborn child Jack as she wrote, “To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”
Both Legend and Chrissy have been vocal about how they have been coping with their loss. Chrissy admitted Legend and her were trying to be there for each other while dealing with their emotions. Amid this, it does not come as a shock that Legend felt emotional as Holiday sang the beautiful song ‘Fix You.’
