Tough as Nails: Renewal status…
- It’s good news for fans of Tough as Nails, the series has been officially renewed for a second season by CBS.
This news may not come as a surprise to many fans of Tough as Nails, but it’s always good to get an official confirmation.
After a significant decrease in viewers from the series premiere to finale, there were concerns that Tough as Nails could be axed by CBS. However, the show still maintained a decent viewership in the latter half of season 1 and averaged a solid 0.5 rating.
Despite the dip, we doubted that CBS would want to cancel a show that could still pull in these types of numbers. Plus, the network needs a new type of competition series and with the prize still only being worth about $250,000, it’s a good value-for-money investment that fits the bill quite nicely.

Tough as Nails season 2: Release date…
- An official release date for Tough as Nails season 3 has yet to be confirmed, but we expect a May 2021 premiere.
Season 1 was ordered in early-October 2019 and premiered in early-July the following year. Assuming that season 2 would have a similar production cycle, this would put the premiere as being sometime in May or June.
However, the issue with this was that production, including casting and filming, took place pre-pandemic. Considering that delays are still being felt by television shows across the country, we can predict that this may push back the premiere until late-summer 2021.
How to apply for Tough as Nails…
- You can apply for the second season of Tough as Nails through the official casting website, but applications are not yet open for season 2.
After passing the eligibility test through the website, you can attend the casting tour dates in various cities – for season 1 it was in St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, New York City, Cincinnati and Las Vegas.
We are assuming that applications for season 2 will be open by November, but again this may be delayed because of the ongoing public health crisis.
