Love Island’s Wes Nelson has the most complex job out of anyone in the villa.
Or at least, it sounds complicated.
The 20-year-old has tried and failed to explain his profession on numerous occasions, with a selection of Islanders looking like glazed-over doughnuts as Wes started to list his daily duties.
Here’s all you need to know about Wes’s nuclear blah blah blah role…
Wes hun nobody knows what a nuclear systems design engineer is or knows how you got that job at 20 #loveisland

What is Wes Nelson’s Job?
Wes has told the other Love Island contestants that he is a nuclear systems design engineer.
So yeah, there you have it.
Need any more info than that?
What is a Nuclear Systems Design Engineer?
Wes’s role as a nuclear engineer involves designing, building, running and decommissioning nuclear power stations.
The role has a heavy reliance on science and maths, with a clear understanding of how nuclear power plants actually work.
Wes’s daily duties are likely to include writing reports and project plans and using complicated analytical and computer systems to pilot new ideas.
Ok I was never as attracted to Wes as I just was him explaining his job 😍 #loveisland

What Does Wes Earn?
Of course, we have no idea what Wes earns, although he’s sure to earn a staggering amount after leaving the villa and jumping on the Instagram product promotion bandwagon.
With 790,000 followers on Insta, nuclear engineering could be a thing of the past.
Nuclear technicians start at around £20,000 per year, while trainees in Wes’s field can earn up to £28,000, and more experienced nuclear engineers take home from £30,000 to £65,000.
Remember, Wes is only 20, mind.
I feel like 90% of people that go on Love Island lie/exaggerate about their previous jobs. Rosie a solicitor? Unlikely. Wes an engineer? He was baffled by the Dyson hair dryer. Zara a government advisor? ????? #loveisland

What Has Wes Said About His Job?
Early in the series, Wes mentioned how he would spend up to £1,000 on a date, suggesting that he is making the big bucks.
Wes also made reference to the difficulty of his job, perhaps smug that he isn’t the generic ‘personal trainer type’ that regularly passes through the Love Island doors.
Wes said, when asked what makes him stand out: Intellect – with my job, I am very academic.”
WATCH LOVE ISLAND EVERY NIGHT (EXCEPT SATURDAY) ON ITV2, AT 9 PM.
