Where is Peaky Blinders season 5 set? Discover the 2019 filming locations!

After an amazing end to season four, fans of BBC’s Peaky Blinders have been eagerly anticipating the return of the BAFTA-award-winning drama.

With series five now set to air in mid-2019, many are wondering where the filming locations are for the brand new season of the show.

So, let’s take a look at where Peaky Blinders season 5 is set…

Peaky Blinders season 5

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Peaky Blinders cast were spotted filming the fifth series around Merseyside in November 2018.

Series frontrunner Cillian Murphy was seen filming around Stanley Dock, where the side of a warehouse had been painted with the name ‘Shelby.’

Peaky Blinders film crews were also spotted filming around Water Street and Exchange Flags and inside the historic Adelphi Hotel.

Despite being set in Birmingham, a lot of the Peaky Blinders action actually takes place in Manchester.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the cast was spotted filming scenes for season 5 in Stockport in January 2019.

The scenes included Peaky Blinders newcomer Sam Claflin and took place outside The Plaza in Mersey Square, which had been transformed into Birmingham’s ‘Bingley Hall’.

Will Peaky Blinders season 5 take place in America?

Although some fan theories suggested that the Shelby clan were moving to America in season 5, Peaky Blinders creator Steve Knight has firmly shut down the rumours.

Speaking to The Daily Express he said:

I’ve resisted going in that direction because the problem is that as soon as you go Chicago, 1920s gangsters – it’s been done a million times. It’s a bit of a minefield and you have to be so careful. So no, in series five definitely no. It will be Birmingham, England.

So it looks like Peaky Blinders season 5 is remaining firmly in the West Midlands!
