The Chase recently teased the new chaser’s identity on Instagram but viewers already suspect who he is – so who is the mystery chaser?

The Chase is one of those long-running quiz series that viewers at home could never get bored of.

Bradley Walsh presents the ITV programme with the help of chasers Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan.

And the series will welcome a brand new cast member whose identity was already unveiled earlier this year.

Who is the chaser on The Chase?

  • The new chaser is called Darragh Ennis.

Back in April this year, Darragh took to Twitter to reveal that he joins the ITV series as the sixth chaser. He tweeted:

“I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase. I’ve been working hard on this for a while now and can’t wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway.”

In a teaser clip, The Chase shared the new chaser’s silhouette and wrote:

“Everyone has been asking about it, and today you got a glimpse of what is to come with a look at the new Chaser’s silhouette.

“You’re going to want to keep watching future episodes to find out more #TheChase.”

Fans have known who the new chaser is since April

The new chaser’s identity is not news to many viewers at home as he was already revealed in a number of newspapers earlier this year.

“They’ll be dragging out that new chaser until Friday like it’s some big secret when we all know who he is,” tweeted one fan.

Meanwhile, there are other people who haven’t been up to date with the news as another viewer wrote: “Sorry there’s a new Chaser?! Since when???”

“Since it was announced in April!” responded someone else.

Darragh Ennis: Age, education and career

Darragh is a lab manager and research technician at the University of Oxford.

According to his LinkedIn bio, he started his undergraduate degree at Maynooth University in 1999. Therefore, he must be in his early 40s.

After completing his studies in 2008, Darragh worked as a biomedical scientist in Dublin and a postdoctoral fellow at Concordia University.

He has worked at the University of Oxford for 7 years now.
